A Look at Our Practice

Unlike most other therapeutic professions, in psychotherapy the patient's physical environment has a significant impact on the healing process. Jim Wyler, LMHC understands the importance of providing patients with a warm, friendly and familiar atmosphere.
We are centrally located in Commack with plenty of off-street parking. Our practice is open, bright and comfortable, which is exactly how we want our patients to feel. The counseling room is discreetly shielded from prying eyes, so you can be certain that what you say during therapy stays between you and your therapist.

Do I Really Need Therapy?

Only you can answer that question. You can call for a free consultation if you have any questions before you are ready to make a commitment to therapy. The truth is that we all have challenging situations that we are presented with from time to time. Life has its challenges, change is hard and transitions can be even more difficult. Maybe your current relationship is causing stress, a recent layoff, an unfortunate loss of a loved one; none of these are easy to navigate. Having someone in your corner to help you through the difficult times is always easier than going it alone. For some, the issues have been more difficult. Sometimes it's hard to cope with depression, anxiety or an addiction to alcohol or drugs. For others chronic pain is a constant struggle and learning to navigate it can be overwhelming. No matter what the situation is, whether it is a long-term problem such as a traumatic incident from childhood or a recent situation causing you to have unwanted stress, making an appointment for therapy can help to alleviate your problems in a relatively short amount of time.

Psychotherapy is completely voluntary. Clients can discontinue treatment at any time. All sessions are private and confidential.
