Jim Wyler is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), he is a national board certified (NCC) counselor with credentials in Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counseling (CASAC), certified by NYS Office of Mental Health in Disaster Response, and is a Level II trained EMDR Therapist. He specializes in individual, couples, family and group therapy, and maintains his private practice in Commack, Long Island. He received his Bachelor's degree in psychology from SUNY Old Westbury, and his Masters of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from C.W. Post/Long Island University.
With over fourteen years’ experience as a therapist/counselor he has worked with a broad
spectrum of clients in a variety of settings, individual and group therapy including outpatient mental health, outpatient addiction clinics, day habilitation and group homes for young adults with
learning & developmental disabilities and seniors in assisted living homes. He works with both adolescents and adults. Some areas of focus in his practice are working with clients experiencing
difficulties with: anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, PTSD/Trauma, addictions, chronic pain counseling, and helping people getting their lives back on track.
Jim Wyler is not a physician, and cannot prescribe or provide any medication. If medical treatment is indicated, he will recommend a physician or psychiatrist to you, depending upon the nature of your concerns.

If you and I collectively decide that you need a higher level of care to help support you I will determine which resource is appropriate and those resources will be made available. In other cases additional resources may be added in to your continued treatment so as to improve the condition that you are in (i.e. Chronic Pain Counseling – may add in Pain Management consultation, client with a mood disorder – Psychiatric consult/assessment).
